Claude Pivi, ancien ministre chargé de la Sécurité sous la junte militaire de Moussa Dadis Camara, a été arrêté au Liberia et ramené en Guinée. Le procureur du parquet militaire a annoncé la nouvelle lors d’une conférence de presse ce jeudi 19 septembre 2024. Cette arrestation fait suite à une étroite collaboration entre les autorités guinéennes et libériennes.
Après dix mois de cavale, Claude Pivi, qui s’était évadé de la maison centrale de Conakry le 4 novembre 2023, a été arrêté au Liberia. C’est le procureur du parquet militaire qui a confirmé cette information devant la presse, soulignant l’efficacité de la coopération entre les autorités des deux pays.
Une arrestation transfrontalière
L’évasion de Claude Pivi avait provoqué de vives réactions au sein de l’opinion publique guinéenne. Condamné à la réclusion criminelle à perpétuité le 31 juillet 2024 pour son rôle dans le massacre du 28 septembre 2009, Pivi s’était évadé de la maison centrale de Conakry peu de temps avant le verdict.
Selon ses propres aveux, il avait traversé la région forestière pour rejoindre le Liberia.
« Depuis l’évasion à Conakry, ce même jour là, j’ai continué, je me suis fait accompagner par trois des gens qui sont venus derrière moi à la sûreté. Ils m’ont balancé pour aller en forêt.. »
Plus loin, l’ancien bras droit du capitaine Moussa Dadis Camara a ajouté : « J’ai passé quatre jours dans mon village avant de traverser la frontière », a-t-il raconté lors de son arrestation.
Une coopération réussie
L’arrestation de Claude Pivi a été rendue possible grâce à une synergie d’actions entre les forces de sécurité guinéennes et libériennes. Le procureur du parquet militaire a salué cette collaboration transfrontalière, qui a permis de retrouver et d’interpeller l’ancien ministre, malgré les difficultés posées par la frontière entre les deux pays.
Ramené en Guinée sous haute escorte, Pivi se trouve de nouveau derrière les barreaux. Sa tentative de fuite n’aura duré que quelques mois, illustrant la détermination des autorités à faire respecter la loi.
La traque de l’ancien dignitaire s’est finalement conclue par son retour en prison. Reste à savoir si d’autres complices de cette évasion seront identifiés dans les prochains jours.
